|You can directly contribute to long-term projects that are intended to improve the Zoo for the sake of the animals and the guests who frequent the facility.
The last “master plan” capital project was conceived in 1987. Through fundraising efforts and contributions from individuals and groups alike, the Elmwood Park Zoo was able to carry out the following upgrades, improvements, and renovations in a little over a decade.
1995 – Completed the Andrew L. Lewis Wetlands Aviary
1996 – Renovated the “Senorium” exhibit to create “The Bayou” collection of exhibits
1997 – Completed entrance pavilion and Phase I of Grassland exhibit
1999 – Completed Admission Building, Lenore Weiss Nature Shop and Cougar Café
2001 – Completed Thomas Kimmel Conservation Kingdom playground facility
2002 – Completed Phase II of Grassland exhibit and Oberkircher Discovery Center
