Our brand new Trail of the Jaguar exhibit's grand opening to the general public will be on Friday, May 5!
Designed by the same architects involved with Disney's Animal Kingdom, Trail of the Jaguar is Elmwood Park Zoo's most elaborate animal exhibit in its 90 year history. Featuring numerous animal enclosures with indoor viewing areas, Trail of the Jaguar brings guests eye-to-eye with some of the world's most majestic predators.
Housing the zoo's jaguars, Trail of the Jaguar allows guests to visit some familiar faces in a new home, as well as introduces them to new and unique species to EPZ's collection, such as ocelots, pack rats, Montezuma quail, and a number of reptiles.
Trail of the Jaguar is also one of the only AZA-accredited facilities to currently house jaguar cubs, as the exhibit will be home to the zoo's two month old jaguar cubs when they are ready to make their public debut.
The jaguar exhibit will also have a number of unique features, including a running waterfall and a replica eagle's nest in which our big cats can lounge. Most excitingly, the exhibit will feature a pool for the jaguars to swim in that will allow for underwater guest viewing.
