Summer of the Cubs

There's a baby boom this summer at Elmwood Park Zoo!

Guests who visit the brand new Trail of the Jaguar exhibits will have the chance to meet Diego and Luna, brother and sister jaguar cubs born at the zoo in January. Watch as they climb, explore, and play their way through their new home, all under the watchful eye of their mother, Inka.

And later this summer, two adolescent cougar cubs will make their debut.

"Russet" and "Yukon" are orphaned brother and sister cubs that were rescued from a farm in Idaho where they were living after their mother was killed. Unable to survive on their own, US Fish and Wildlife transferred them to the zoo.

Our animal care staff members are now working on slowly acclimating them to their brand new surroundings. They will eventually be seen on exhibit in the space that was the long time home of our beloved cougar, Aurora. The zoo will be building the cubs a brand new exhibit in the next couple of years, courtesy of the generous support of Tube Methods, Inc.
