MEMBERSHIP FAQ

     
Q:   How do I become a member?
A:   You can sign up for a membership online, by calling our Membership Coordinator at (610) 277-3825 x 240, or at the Zoo admissions counter.
     
Q:   When does my membership start?
A:   If you are purchasing through our online store, the membership will not be activated until proof of purchase is brought to the zoo admission window. If you are purchasing in-store or over the phone, membership is activated at the time of purchase.
     
Q:   How long do I have to activate my membership after purchasing it online?
A:   You must bring your proof of purchase to the zoo's admission window in order to activate your membership. In order to retain the full value of your membership, you must bring in the proof of purchase within one year of your membership purchase.
     
Q:   How long does my membership last?
A:   Memberships are valid for one year through the end of the month they are validated at the zoo (ex: If you validate your membership at the zoo on May 14, 2017 the expiration date is May 31, 2018).
     
Q:   Why do I need to show my photo I.D. when I come to the Zoo?
A:   Presenting photo I.D. ensures that the name on the membership card matches the name on the I.D. and prevents membership misuse.
     
Q:   How do I receive my membership card?
A:   Your membership card(s) will be available for pick up at the Membership Services window at zoo admission. Please bring your purchase receipt and a valid form of I.D. If you have any questions, please contact our Membership Coordinator at (610) 277-3825 ext. 240. Please note: The zoo no longer mails membership cards. They must be picked up on-site at the zoo.
     
Q:   Can I bring guests with my membership?
A:   Depending on the level of the membership you have chosen, the number of people admitted varies. Guests are permitted with Senior, Individual, Zoo for Two, Family Plus, Family Deluxe and Family & Friend memberships. At least one person whose name appears on the card must be present for each visit. Guests must be accompanied by a member. Children 2 years old and younger are always free, and therefore do not count as a member’s guest. Members receive a $2.00 discount on single-use admission tickets for those that exceed the number allowed with the membership.
     
Q:   Can my children use the membership without me?
A:   No. At least one adult whose name appears on the card must be present for the membership to be used. If your children visit with someone other than the cardholder, they will be charged Zoo admission.
     
Q:   Can I change my membership level?
A:   You may upgrade your membership at any time by paying the difference between your current level and new level. Upgrading will not affect the expiration date of your membership. You may upgrade your membership at Zoo admissions or by calling 610.277.3825 x 240.
     
Q:   I lost my membership card, how do I get a new one?
A:   Replacement cards can be purchased at the Membership Services window at zoo admission. Replacement cards have a fee of $5.00. Photo I.D. is required as proof of membership.
     
Q:   How many membership cards are included with my membership?
A:   Family & Friend memberships include two cards because there are three adult names on the card. All other memberships include one card. If you wish to have more than one card, you can purchase additional cards for $5.00 each.
     
Q:   Can I use my Elmwood Park Zoo membership at other zoos and aquariums?
A:   Yes. Elmwood Park Zoo memberships have reciprocity at over 100 zoos and aquariums around the country. Please keep in mind that most locations are not free, and that an EPZ membership may only be valid for discount admission. For a full listing of participating locations, click here.
     
Q:   My current membership is still active. Can I purchase a new membership during one of your sales?
A:   Memberships purchased at the same level as your current membership will have rollover time, giving you the full benefit of both your current and newly purchased memberships. If you are upgrading to a higher membership level, your new membership will not go into effect until your current membership expires. Please note: For online membership purchases, you must bring your proof of purchase to the zoo's admission window to activate your new membership.
     
Q:   Can I purchase a membership as a gift for someone else?
A:   Yes, gift memberships can be purchased online here. Memberships purchased online will be activated once proof of purchase is brought to the zoo admission window. Gifts can also be purchased in-store or over the phone. Memberships purchased in-store or over the phone are activated at the time of purchase.
     
Q:   How will my gift recipient get their membership card?
A:   For online purchases, please send a copy of your proof of purchase to the recipient for them to bring to the zoo's admission window for membership activation. They will be given their membership cards at this time. For in-store purchases, you will be given their membership cards, as their membership will have been immediately activated. For over the phone purchases, please let your gift recipient know their card is ready for pickup at the admission window.
     
Q:   I paid for admission and then decided to purchase a membership. Can my admission cost be applied to my membership?
A:   Admission can be applied toward a membership only if the membership is purchased on the same day as the visit. The receipt must be presented and surrendered at the time of purchase. Only the qualifying admission cost can be applied to the membership.
     
Q:   Is my membership tax deductible?
A:   A portion of your membership cost is tax deductible. Please consult a tax professional for more information.

Q:   Is my membership refundable? If I purchase a membership before a sale, can I get the difference refunded?
A:   No. All memberships are non-refundable.
