SCHOOL & GROUP PROGRAMS

Elmwood Park Zoo offers a wide selection of educational programs. These programs are individually tailored for students and children as young as preschool age, but can be appreciated and enjoyed by all age groups.
 

ON-SITE PROGRAMS

Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade

20-minute programs

These interactive programs engage young learners with interesting animal artifacts that they can touch and live animals that they can see up close. Individual programs can accommodate up to 40 children.
 

Crunch, Munch, What's for Lunch?

People eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner; but do animals follow this same routine? Crunch, slurp, and nibble your way through the animal kingdom's healthy diets.
 

Critter Coats

Discover all the unique coverings animals wear and the different ways in which their coats help them to survive.
 

Wildlife Workout

People aren't the only ones who do push-ups! In this get up and go program, you will exercise while learning about animal movement.
 

Sensational Animals

Take an in-depth look at the five senses and explore the differences and similarities with how they are used in the animal kingdom.
 

Animal Adaptations

Webbed feet, wings, camouflage and quills are all unique features. We learn how animals utilize them to live and thrive.
 
 

Grades 2 - 9

45-minute programs

Programs for grades 2 through 9 are designed to help teachers meet Pennsylvania Academic Standards in their curriculums for environmental and natural sciences.

Students will learn about different animal homes and all the components of a habitat.

Design Your Own Program

Educators, we'll create a custom program that ties directly into your curriculum and meets the needs of any class. Please contact the Education Department for further details.

45-minute programs

These programs are created to meet the precise needs of your particular group.
 

Laugh & Learn

This fun-filled, multi-sensory program engages guests with live animal interactions and artifact exploration. An emphasis is placed on tactile encounters that aim to create positive experiences for each guest.
 
 

SCHEDULING INFORMATION

  • All programs must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Please schedule early to ensure the availability of your preferred date.
  • A minimum of fifteen guests is required to schedule an education program. One free adult admission is included with every 15 paid children admissions. You may combine with another group in order to meet the minimum requirement.
  • A 50%, non-refundable deposit is required upon receipt of contract. Your remaining balance is due on the day of your visit. Zoo membership discounts and rates do not apply to program fees.
  • Programs are held rain or shine, with the exception of instances of extreme weather. Rescheduling is welcome; please contact the Education Department by 9:00 am on the day of your program.
