About

Spadefoot toads are nocturnal and usually only visible during rainfall. They spend most of their time burdened into the ground. The frogs “spade-like” projection under its foot allow it to easily dig into the soil. ¬†They can¬†remain underground in shallow burrows or tunnels for weeks during periods without rain. When it rains, they will emerge to find food and breed. After a rainfall, they make calls similar to the sound of a crows.
