Boer goats are characterized by its distinctive large white bodies and brown heads. They have short coats, horns, and large floppy ears. Some boer greats may be completely brown or white in color. The name boer goats is derived from the Dutch word “boer” meaning farmer. Their breed of domesticated goats originated in South Africa as herd goats. They are mainly raised for their milk or show goats. Boer goats are generally like human attention and spend the day grazing. They tend to live in herds and the males are always larger than the females.
