The emperor scorpion is the largest scorpion in the world. It is difficult to distinguish the difference between adult males and females, as they appear similar. Young scorpions are born defenseless, but as they age, they rely on their stingers to kill prey. Fully-grown adult scorpions will kill and manipulate prey with their strong pinches, saving their sting for self-defense and bigger prey. They are known to be nocturnal, but on days that are dark and cloudy, scorpions tend to be active.
