With its bright green and yellow coloring, the yellow-crowned amazon parrot is easily recognizable in the wild.  These social birds can be found in large flocks at night to roost, while they split into smaller groups during the day to feed. Depending on the food resources available in the area, the flocks will generally stay in a single area as their home range.  The yellow-crowned amazon parrot has become a popular bird for the pet trade due to their bright feathers and ability to mimic human sound, but their population has remained steady in the wild.  Parrots can be extremely loud and high maintenance, so keeping them in a home can be a challenging decision.
