Yellow-crowned amazon parrots are very social, love attention and have their own personalities. They can produce a range of loud sounds such as whistles, shrieks, squawks and screeches. In comparison to other parrots, they have the ability to mimic human speech. They require an environment with plenty of space to spread their wings and fly, which is why they have an extensive outdoor exercise area here at the zoo.
