COMMUNITY AT PLAY
This education- and nature-centric area will provide space for students, families and casual learners alike to get into the great outdoors and learn together! Moreover, the Nature Play area, re-located Barn, and a snack stand will be outside of the zoo’s perimeter fence, allowing the public to access these incredible spaces.

The Nature Play area and Outdoor Classroom is designed to educate and entertain both zoo guests and the community. This free place for play will be managed by the zoo and is a great resource for those enjoying the Schuylkill River Trail.

Expanding on our already robust relationship with the Stony Creek Anglers Association, The zoo has incorporated the neighborhood's favorite local fishing hole into our master plan. The Fishing Shack will host bait sales and rod rentals.

GREENSPACE ADDITIONS
Encouraging not only Zoo guests, but the public at large to get out into nature with friends and family, these public amenities will enhance the enjoyment of local greenspaces for generations to come.

Support for these areas will enhance the trail system that runs through the Zoo's campus, helping to grow local flora and fauna and encourage natural wildlife and wild species.

The Elmwood Park Zoo Conservatory will also be located across Stony Creek and adjacent to the revitalized Castner House, a local historic home from 1802. The Conservatory will be designed with incredible sensory gardens that will serve to benefit the Zoo's autism-friendly education programming and the partnership with Temple University School of Agriculture.

With the completion of the Zoo's new North American habitats will be the construction of the new connector to the Schuylkill River Trail that will run right along the zoo's new western border. This new trail will allow the public to enjoy both local nature and the Zoo's new public-facing amenities, like the Barn and Nature Play Area.
