GUEST SERVICES representative
Position: Guest Services Representative
Reports to: Guest Services Management Team
Coordinates with: All Departments
Summary of Responsibilities:
This position requires a friendly, customer-focused individual that helps to provide an excellent visitor experience. Representatives are often the first point of contact for guests and are responsible for selling tickets and memberships, answering membership inquiries, scanning tickets, and facilitating guest entry into the Zoo. Representatives must have terrific communication skills, an upbeat demeanor, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist the Zoo in fostering an appreciation of wildlife and their habitats that will inspire active participation in conservation.
- Assist management in ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all areas of the operation of the Zoo.
- To treat with confidentiality all information entrusted or known by you regarding guests, animals, business, employees, volunteers, incidents, and any other sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively with both adults and children in both group and individual settings. Always greet guests and exercise professionalism.
- Manage in-zoo ticket sales.
- Field membership inquiries, and engage with all guests to promote annual
membership benefits. - Support the overall Guest Services front line operation which may include; processing ticket sales, scanning tickets, facilitating entry into attractions, and line control.
- Operate point-of-sale systems.
- Respond to all guest needs stated and implied.
- Provide engaging and supportive service to all guests.
- Assist with working, operating, and executing programming and events hosted by the Zoo.
- Prior cash handling experience
- Prior sales experience preferred
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain composed and attentive when interacting with the public
- Ability to start and maintain conversations
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable being exposed to cold and hot weather conditions
- Friendly disposition
- Must be comfortable working around children
- Ability to maintain alertness and attentiveness to safety and proper
procedures - Ability to handle cash and operate point of sale system
- Ability to work well independently and within a team
- Meets the needs and expectations of the role, as per business needs
Work Experience: Some experience required
Schedule: Must be able to work at least 20 hours per week. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and during school breaks. Schedule varies and is dependent on weather and guest attendance; schedule subject to change and may require late shift hours.

Two forms of official valid identification are required. Ability to pass criminal background and child abuse clearance is required.
Wage: $15.00/hr
