Animal enrichment involves providing animals with elements or objects that enhance their environment. These elements work to stimulate the senses and are often made to target specific aspects of an animal’s biology and natural behavior.

You can buy handpicked items from the Animal Care staff that directly benefit the zoo’s animals! Elmwood Park Zoo’s Amazon Wish List contains everything from animal enrichment items and treats, to medical supplies, and even pieces for their exhibits.

Otto Environmental Wish list

Elmwood Park Zoo’s Otto Environmental Wish List includes many enrichment items for our animals. Enrichment activities ultimately benefit a zoo animal’s welfare by eliciting behavior that the animal would naturally exhibit in the wild.

Commonly used enrichment may include:

Example: Hiding exotic scents throughout a jaguar’s exhibit
