What does it take to be a zookeeper at Elmwood Park Zoo? In this immersive experience, children ages 8 through 13 will learn firsthand from our keepers! Keepers will spend their day shadowing a keeper as they complete their daily tasks necessary to care for our animals. Keepers will get up close with our animals, prepare diets, create enrichment, and more!
All participants must wear close-toed shoes throughout their experience. “Keeper for a Day” experiences are for children ages 8 through 13 only; parents/guardians are required to drop off and pick up their child on the scheduled day.
Requested dates are subject to availability and must fall within the following times: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Requests must be made at least 4 weeks prior to your preferred date. Please contact Education department at 610.277.3825 ext. 235, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your date.
$250 per Keeper
After purchase, guests can select a date by emailing the Education Department Manager at email@example.com. Please provide a list of three dates that you would prefer for the experience so the education department may choose the best day for your keeper! Programs will need to be schedule at least two weeks in advance.
Cancellations must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org 48 hours in advance to program date. We do not offer refunds, but will try to reschedule if necessary.
We cannot guarantee specific activities due to weather and animal behavior. Additional activities will be provided during the experience.
At this time, Keeper for a Day cannot be schedule for anyone who requires a service animal due to quarantine standards of the animals at our facility. If your keeper has a special need or mobility need, please inform us in advance during booking so we may plan the experience accordingly.
