Read Across America

Our annual celebration that focuses on the joys of reading returns Saturday, February 29, from 11 am to 2 pm. Read Across America is a nationally-celebrated event that aims to motivate reading among children of all ages. In addition to a selection of books available for purchase in our Book Fair, this year’s event festivities include the following:

11:00 am – Books & Beasts
This special storytime reading of Dr. Seuss’s “I Wish That I Had Duck Feet” by a zoo educator also features an appearance by one of the zoo’s live animal ambassadors!

11:30 am – Cat in the Hat Appearance
Meet the classic Dr. Seuss character, courtesy of WHYY PBS Kids

12:00 pm – Jerry Spinelli Appearance
Norristown native and world-renown author of Maniac Magee, Stargirl, and The Warden’s Daughter, Jerry Spinelli will be on hand to greet guests and sign books

1:00 pm – Books & Beasts
This special storytime reading of Dr. Seuss’s “Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?” by a zoo educator also features an appearance by one of the zoo’s live animal ambassadors!

1:30 pm – Cat in the Hat Appearance
Meet the classic Dr. Seuss character, courtesy of WHYY PBS Kids
