PLANNED GIVING

100 years ago, a group of visionaries preserved a piece of land that has enriched the Montgomery County community for generations. Now it’s our turn.
Elmwood Park Zoo’s Future is Your Legacy.

Below is some information on how you can impact Elmwood Park Zoo’s future!

GIVE NOW

Charitable Designations

This option provides flexibility and supports the Zoo without needing to make a commitment in your will or estate.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD): This is a wonderful option for people 70½ and older. QCD allows you to make a gift to the Zoo from your traditional or Roth IRA without the distribution counting as taxable income. (2025 annual limit is $108,000 per individual, or $216,000 for married couples filing jointly).

Donor-advised Funds (DAF): To give through a DAF, you establish a Giving Account and then donate cash, stocks, etc. to be eligible for an immediate tax deduction. You then make a request to fund the Zoo through your DAF’s Giving Account.

Gift of Appreciated Securities: Securities and mutual funds that have increased in value and been held for more than one year are one of the most popular assets to use when making a gift. When you give appreciated securities or mutual funds you can reduce or even eliminate federal capital gains taxes on the transfer. You may also be entitled to a federal income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the securities at the time of the transfer.
