Elmwood Park Zoo offers exciting and unique internship opportunities that help students and recent graduates reach a range of academic and professional goals. Internship positions are available from a variety of groups at the zoo including: Zookeeper Internship, Education Ambassador Care Internship, Conservation Education Engagement, Marketing Internship, Public Zoo Programing Internship, and Event Planning and Operations Internship.

Zookeeper
Internship

The zoo keeper internship provides an opportunity for college students or recent graduates to explore the realities of a career working with animals.

Ambassador Care
Internship

Our ambassador care internship allows you the opportunity to get hands-on experience caring for our education animals animals and providing an educational experience for our guests.

Conservation Education Engagement

Interns will work side-by-side with educators in the zoo developing lesson plans, activities,  and interactive teaching tools. Only offered mid-March through late June.

Public Zoo
Programming Internship

Interns will work closely with our Guest Services team as they learn what steps are needed to put on an event at the zoo including setup/breakdown, planning, and more.

Event Planning
& Operations
Internship

This intern will be responsible for assisting in the booking and successful production of private events (weddings, bridal/baby showers, birthday parties, fundraisers, etc.)

Marketing
Internship

Marketing interns assist our team with writing e-mails, maintaining the Adopt an Animal Program, taking and editing photos, social media outlets and ongoing projects.
