Elmwood Park Zoo offers exciting and unique internship opportunities that help students and recent graduates reach a range of academic and professional goals. Internship positions are available from a variety of groups at the zoo including: Zookeeping Internship, Education Ambassador Care Internship, Conservation Education Internship, Marketing Internship, Public Zoo Programing Internship, and Event Planning and Operations Internship.

Zookeeping
Internship

Zookeeping Interns with previous exotic animal husbandry experience put into practice the skills needed to enter the Zookeeping or Wildlife Conservation Career Field.

Ambassador Care
Internship

Ambassador Care Interns get hands-on experience working with, caring for and utilizing our live education animal collection in order to facilitate conservation education.

Conservation Education Internship

Conservation Education Interns learn how to educate the public to inspire conservation action while gaining introductory animal husbandry experience.

Event Planning
& Operations
Internship

This intern will be responsible for assisting in the booking and successful production of private events (weddings, bridal/baby showers, birthday parties, fundraisers, etc.)

Guest Engagement & Programming Internship

Interns will work closely with our Guest Services team as they learn what steps are needed to put on an event at the zoo including setup/breakdown, planning, and more.

Marketing
Internship

Individuals will gain hands-on experience in promotions, branding, sponsorships, non-profit development, preparation of events and more!
