RECEPTIONIST
Position: Receptionist
Employment Type: Part Time
Reports to: Guest Services Management Team
Coordinates With: All Departments
Schedule: Saturday – Tuesday
Summary of Responsibilities:
This individual should be highly motivated, responsible, and personable and should have a proactive attitude.
This individual will be responsible for adhering to the policies and procedures of the Zoo. The receptionist is
expected to be knowledgeable in all areas. The receptionist must exhibit a positive, friendly, helpful attitude
with guests and coworkers to maintain a quality zoo experience. Responsibilities include answering the phone and directing calls to the appropriate recipients. Other responsibilities may include responding to guest emails, and light office duties such as
typing, copying or filing.
- Assist the Zoo in fostering an appreciation of wildlife and their habitats that will inspire active participation in conservation.
- Assist management in ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all areas of the operation of the Zoo.
- To treat with confidentiality all information entrusted or known by you regarding guests, animals, business, employees, volunteers, incidents, and any other sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively with both adults and children in both group and individual settings. Always greet guests and exercise professionalism.
- Answer phones and emails in a professional manner and routing messages as necessary

- Responsible for responding to customer inquiries/messages in regards to admission rates, hours of
operations, memberships, special events, etc. - Informs Managers or Leads of customer comments, complaints, or concerns
- The ability to answer a multiple phone line system in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures
- The ability to operate or be trained to operate the point of sale system (Galaxy)
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Guest Services, Manager or Lead
- Excellent verbal communication skills required
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Previous reception experience preferred
- Ability to contribute positively as part of a team, helping out with various tasks as required
- Bilingual is a plus
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
Identification:
Two forms of official valid identification are required. Ability to pass criminal background and child abuse clearance is required.
Wage: $15.00/hr
