Distance Learning

Can’t bring your class to the zoo for a program? Elmwood Park Zoo is now offering live video lessons for classes!  Each lesson will include meeting one animal ambassador, information on the animals’ natural history, and time for questions. Our lessons are designed to fit into your current curriculum and are designed with PA State Standards, NGSS / NJSLS-S, and Common Core.

Program Booking

Lessons can be booked by teachers for grades 1st through 12th.  Lessons can also be scheduled for college professors. Teachers must book through the Education Department Manager, either through phone or email at education@elmwoodparkzoo.org. Programs must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance and must be booked anytime from 8:30am to 4pm (4pm is last opening).  Lessons are designed for classes with up to 50 students.

Payment

A lesson is priced at $100 for a 30 minute session. Payment can be made online by clicking here, or payment may be accepted in the form of a check mailed to the zoo’s Education Department.  Credit cards can also be accepted over the phone.

Cancellation

Cancellations must be emailed to education@elmwoodparkzoo.org 24 hours in advance to the program date.  We do not offer refunds, but will try to reschedule if necessary.

Lesson

Each lesson will be 30 minutes long.  This time will include meeting one animal ambassador, a lesson on the animals’ natural history, and time at the end to ask questions. Animal ambassadors can be chosen from our Education Animal collection, excluding the Bald Eagle. 

Lessons are experienced through ZOOM video conferencing or Google Hangout/Meet. It’s free and easy to sign up, so you can enjoy this experience with us! Your booking includes a test session within 24 hours before the scheduled program.
